1. Use the information below to complete the exercise that follows.
Imagine that you are a Spanish teacher at a secondary school. A teacher from a Spanish-speaking country
will be spending the year at your school as part of an exchange program for teachers. Write in Spanish
a brief guide for the visiting teacher in which you describe local shopping resources (e.g., supermarkets,
gift stores, school stores). You may wish to include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- a description of specific shopping resources available to the teacher;
- an explanation of why the teacher might find these resources useful; and
- directions about how the teacher could find more information about shopping resources.

Estimada Sra. Abascal:
Cuando me enteré de que usted había aceptado el puesto de intercambio por un año en nuestra escuela, empecé a colocar unas ideas para compartir con usted de hacer compras aquí en Minneapolis.
Minneapolis es la capital de Minnesota y ofrece tanta variedad de hacer compras según su gusto y el dinero que tiene usted. Lo más famoso centro comercial, Mall of America, queda cercano en Bloomington y es el mayor centro comercial de los Estados Unidos. Hay más de 500 tiendas lujosas y económicas, restaurantes y un grande parque de atracciones. Es fácil llegar en tren desde el aeropuerto y el centro de Minneapolis.
Ubica al centro de la ciudad hay otra centro comercial que se llama, Gaviidae Common, donde se ofrece compras de primera categoría como Neiman Marcus.
Si prefiere hacer compras especiales o eclécticos, hay una zona residencial, Patina, en Minneapolis donde se especializa en accesorios para el hogar (lámparas, artículos para la cocina, artesania); para mujeres (bolsos, sombreros, vestidos elegantes); para hombres (relojes, chaquetas de cuero).
Por fin, tiene que visitar el mercado agrícola de Minneapolis, que es el mercado al aire libre más grande de Minnesota. Se abrió en 1876 y lleva vendiendo productos locales como miel, queso, flores, verduras temporadas.
Espero que la información que incluyo sea buena para mejorar su estancia y su aprendizaje de nuestra ciudad. Creo que unas visitas a centros comerciales y a mercados al aire libre pueden ofrecerle una memoria viva sin sacar fotos. ¡Es un buen método para recordar su estancia por visitar y hacer compras! Además, antes de empezar mi intercambio en Caracas, la directora de la escuela me mandó una gía de compras para la ciudad. Sin duda, andaba muy cómoda al tener esta información con anticipación.

Querida Mónica,
Recuerdo bien nuestras conversaciones en las cuales me mencionabas tu interés en el cine internacional. Por eso, me decidí escribirte de un festival internacional este año donde había muchas películas latinoamericanas, españolas y otras europeas. El festival duraba tres días por varios sitios en la ciudad y se pasaban las películas todo el día. Cada barrio se especializaba y pasaba películas de una región, por ejemplo, Centro América. Había tanta gente haciendo cola.
¡Qué suerte tenía yo al enterarme de que había un maratón de películas de Norma Aleandro, nuestra actriz argentina favorita! Aunque he mirado sus películas antes, era difícil escoger solamente una o dos por falta de tiempo ese día. Como quería mirar unas películas españolas también ese día, era necesario mirarlas en otra parte de la cuidad. Sin embargo, quería compartir contigo que miré la película, Cama adentro por la tercera vez. Si no la has visto, quizás esté disponible en España como Señora Beba. El drama está ubicado en Buenos Aires durante el crisis económico a los principios de 2000.
De costumbre, me gusta asistir festivales y eventos culturales por la ciudad. ¡Qué mejor manera conocer la ciudad, la gente y, en este festival internacional, mirar unas muestras extraordinaras de cine latinoamericano! Además no podía creer el suerte que tenía este año. El proximo año quiero que asistas conmigo a el proximo festival para juntos ir a los teatros. Te van a gustar y pasaremos muy buen tiempo mirando las peliculas y recordando los tiempos viejos. Además te conoceras mucha gente, como nosotras, que aprecian el interesante mundo del cinematografia extranjero.

- a request for help getting a new key or gaining access to your room; and
- a question about possible fees or other consequences for replacing your key.

- a description of why the experience was memorable.
